SECS/GEM for industrial ovens - Retrofitting based on automatically generated process models

Weiss Technik GmbH, headquartered in 35447 Reiskirchen, Hesse, is a leading provider in the field of heat technology and environmental simulation.

In recent years, there has been a steady increase in the demands placed on these devices in the field of automation. Especially when directly integrated into production plants, the connection to a higher-level system such as a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is necessary.

SECS/GEM in the semiconductor industry and OPC UA (Open Platform Communication Unified Architecture) in general industries have established themselves as key interfaces to MES systems. Both standards rely on the use of standardized data models to integrate different machines into MES systems.

Weiss Technik implements a standardized automation approach to provide such models for its products:

The device-specific information is mapped by the central software S!MPATI with a standardized data model.

Base on the S!MPATI data model the required models for SECS/GEM and OPC UA are automatically generated from the S!MPATI data model so that the required automation solutions can be provided with minimal engineering effort and simply by parameterizing existing modules.
